The final course for General English Language is Advanced. Once this is completed, we recommend a progression onto our Foundation Programmes.

One form of photographic identification is required to enroll on a General English Language Course. This can be in the form of either a passport, driving license or visa.

Each English level is 12-14 weeks long and classes are run from Monday to Thursday each week.

There are no formal entry requirements. When you enrol onto the GEL course you will first be assessed by means of an initial assessment which will help us decide which is the most suitable level of English for you to start in. If you have previously done an accredited English language course we will need to see the certification.

Towards the end of the course you will take an internal examination on all four skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. Students will receive a certificate and transcript when they pass the exams.

If you pass your course you can progress onto the next higher level of English. Once you have reached and completed advanced level of GEL you can progress onto one of our foundation programmes.

Frequently Asked Questions

We offer small classes to ensure as much individual teacher to student contact time as possible. Homework is given at the end of most classes to allow students to review the class and promote independent learning.

As a lot of content is covered in each class, and to avoid students falling behind - we advise students to complete their course before going on holiday. The college has scheduled holidays throughout the year whereby students are free to take holiday. However, in an event that you need to take emergency leave, you can request to do so.

Upon completing an application form you will complete an initial assessment which will be used to assign you to a level. This is in the form of a short interview with a member of Winsor staff and a short reading and writing exam.

If you are a student abroad, one of our team members will call you and arrange the assessment.
