Students can choose from the following three exam options - English for the Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Skills for Life awarded by EMD (Qualifications) Ltd

Course level :B1- B2-C1-C2/E3- L1-L2

This course is designed for students who wish to brush up their language skills in order to gain Higher Education qualification. The course is a blend of Academic English with Pre-University modules. By the end of this course you will be able to understand, write and evaluate critical academic reports. It will also encourage to communicate in an effective and professional manner.

Course content

All the four modules reading, writing, speaking and listening are covered in depth.

Speaking and Listening:

• speak to communicate straightforward and detailed information, ideas and opinions clearly, adapting speech and content to take account of the listener(s), medium, purpose and situation.

• listen and respond to spoken language, including extended information and narratives, and follow detailed explanations and multi-step instructions of varying length, adapting response to speaker, medium and context

• engage in discussion with one or more people in a variety of different situations, making clear and effective contributions that produce outcomes appropriate to purpose and topic.

Reading and Writing

• read and understand a range of texts of varying complexity accurately and independently

• read and obtain information of varying length and detail from different sources.

• write to communicate information, ideas and opinions clearly using length, format and style appropriate to purpose, content and audience.

Who is this course for?

It is designed for everyone who wants to excel in language skills which are useful for further education. These courses are ideal preparation for Pre-University students who require in-depth training in Academic English beyond the narrow scope of an IELTS preparation course.

Entry Criteria

Anyone wishing to join this course would need to meet the initial entry criteria of IELTS 4.0 and a pre-course interview taken by one of our qualified tutors. In case of overseas students there will be a Skype interview for 20 minutes.

Course Duration:

The length of the course will be from 6 to 10 months depending on the modules chosen with 12 hours per Week.


The final assessment will be a combination of written exams, oral one to one interview, group discussions and computer based exams.


The Academic English courses are very good for students planning to study at Undergraduate or Postgraduate programmes at universities in the UK. It can be served as a launching pad towards their dream destination in their academic career.
